Dahlia:

symbolizing elegance, inner strength, creativity, change, and dignity; known to represent standing strong in one’s sacred values

After years of working together in the service industry, we decided it was finally time to plant our own garden and fulfill our collective dream of becoming business owners. We want to create not only a place to be, but a community built on the love and respect we share for one another and those who come into our lives. Dahlia will help you seize the opportunity of the day, whether you need a bite to eat, a cocktail to sip, a place to meet a friend, or a warm pastry to nourish your soul. Years of patience and hard work have brought us to this place. We have honed our craft, we have fallen in love with each other’s work, and we can’t wait to share it with the rest of you.

The Team

alex althoff

Pastry Chef, Co-owner

She’s a pastry powerhouse, a creative force, the queen of donuts, a magnetic human, and our Executive Pastry Chef. Alex has been dreaming of opening her own place since she inherited her love of whipped cream from her mom and learned how to bake her first chocolate cake from her dad. (Bless us, everyone.)

Alex taught herself how to make laminated pastries by hand in maybe the hottest kitchen in Minneapolis, and once, along with a small team, made over 900 pies for Thanksgiving. Nothing stands between her and getting the job done. She’s an absolute force to be reckoned with in the kitchen.

If you don't see her with one of her four beverages in hand or longingly staring at food, you might find her tending to her dahlia garden (this is not a drill, she’s obsessed), reading the latest Emily Henry novel, or hanging out with her husband Nat. Hailing from Iowa, she makes a mean loose meat sandwich.

sarah julson

Creative & Operations, Co-owner

Sarah Julson is the kind of person who’s great at pretty much everything she does. Introduce her to a game for the first time? Cool, she’ll win! Oh, you think that's beginner's luck? Nope, she just beat you again. She’s our do-it-all gal, the kind you want on your team.

In the world of art and design, her skills and attention to detail are unmatched. When Sarah isn’t busy making us all look good, she’s doing all the other behind-the-scenes work, setting everything in place just so. She’s a big-picture thinker, but loves getting lost in the details and intention.

Outside of being the best helper she can be (yes, she’s an Enneagram 2), she enjoys long floats in the lake, obsessing over music, floor hangs with her family, traversing the deserts of Arizona, and cheering on the KC Royals.

nat moser

Chef, Co-owner

Nathaniel Moser (very affectionately nicknamed Nat) is a man with a plan. While you are sleeping, eating, or dilly-dallying, this guy has his next move picked out. Otherwise, he’s probably taking a break to drink a beer. He’s also the kind of guy you bring anywhere and he will inevitably find a friend in the crowd.

Some of his earliest and fondest memories of food stem from eating at Mai Village in St. Paul with his family, watching his brother take down the spiciest dishes they would cook for a 12-year-old. Ever since, he’s been a pepper connoisseur and a hot sauce wizard. His chill demeanor and love for a fast-paced environment landed him perfectly in the world of restaurants where his heart of service shines. He makes many of our “best-ofs” (the kind you never saw coming) fueled by jam sessions of Mac Miller, Odesza, and Chris Stapleton.

He is a self-proclaimed nerd (and his wife, Alex, agrees) who enjoys an intense World of Warcraft sesh, shredding fresh pow on his snowboard, and a good morning snuggle with his two doggos,
